REGISTRATION AND
ENROLLMENT |
When is the deadline to
register for one of your courses? Our writing
courses do not have enrollment deadlines. Registration is open 365 days a year.
Can I register for one of
your writing courses a month in advance? Yes, but you'll need to
send us a separate message telling us the
date to begin sending your lessons.
The Writer's
Mentor University courses are conducted almost entirely by e-mail with
occasional tutorials or notes posted here on this Web site.
When additional information is available for a specific
course, you will be given logon information to the private
site. Mailing
Lists At the time of enrollment, you provide an e-mail address
where you want to receive your lessons and any special
notes from the instructor. Your e-mail address is known
only to us and is never sold, shared or rented. Period.
E-Mail
Writing Courses Writing courses are built around your lessons, assigned reading
and "lectures" that you'll receive by e-mail, and
do not include feedback from the instructor. Each lesson
includes a writing assignment that you can complete at your
leisure, since these courses have no deadlines or due dates
for assignments. Basically, you work at your own pace.
One-on-One Mentoring Services When you register for any writing course, you have the option of requesting
private, one-on-one mentoring help from the instructor. This option is
available even if you are not currently enrolled in one of our writing
courses.
You would choose this
option when you want your work critiqued by the instructor,
or when you want help applying the writing principles to
your own project. One-on-one mentoring is limited by the
number of students requesting assistance from the
instructor. If the instructor's mentoring schedule is full
at the time you requested, we
will notify you and offer alternate dates.
Download
Links and URLs Your lessons may include links where you can
download specific information or templates from our Web
site. In addition, we include URLs to various sites on the
Internet where you can surf for further information
pertinent to each course (if applicable). It is your responsibility to know
how to do this, as we do not offer technical support for downloading documents.
Maximum
Number of Students for Each Writing Course E-mail Writing courses have an unlimited number of students
since in most cases, no instructor feedback is required.

INSTRUCTOR AND
STUDENT INTERACTION |
How much
interaction will I have with other students who are
enrolled in a course at the same time I am? You will have no interaction with other students because
I don't believe in giving criticism and feedback publicly.
Your writing and learning experience is unique to you.
You're paying to learn and have your work critiqued.
Why would you want to read about someone else's mistakes
and expend that precious amount of time that you could put
to use in your own writing project? Not only that, but you
can't copyright a story idea. So why put it out
there? How
much interaction can I expect with my instructor? In addition to receiving your lesson and homework
feedback once a week, you have access to your instructor by
e-mail for a limited amount of questions. When you require
additional help, you might want to inquire about private mentoring with your instructor. Besides that, your
instructor will interact with you by sending out periodic
updates or additional material that requires your feedback.
I didn't
know there would be so much study time and homework for
this course. I want to un-enroll. How do I apply for a
refund? Please refer to our Refund
Policy. If you qualify for a refund, please contact us as noted on the
Refund Policy page.
What's a
Virtual Classroom? A Virtual Classroom is a learning medium where you
attend classes through accessing your lessons and
supporting materials through an e-mail account. The
classroom is virtual because it's an Internet-based class,
not a physical building, nor a class with set hours where
you are required to show up in person.
I've
never taken a writing course through e-mail. How do I learn
and how do I apply this information to my writing projects? All of our writing courses are offered by e-mail so you
can study and learn in the convenience and privacy of your
personal environment, whether that's at home, on the beach,
traveling, or at the office. Your instructor sends your
lessons, supporting materials, information and homework
assignments to your e-mail address. It's your
responsibility to check your e-mail daily to see if you've
received messages from your instructor. It's that simple.
You register. You pay for the course. Your lessons arrive
by e-mail. For
some students, it can be more difficult to participate in a
virtual classroom because it requires more self-discipline
and you don't have to show up at a particular place and
time to attend the class or turn in your assignments. You
are responsible for your education. What you put into it, is
what you'll get out of it. Let's
face it. If you don't write and complete the assignments,
you can't apply it to your writing projects. Writing
courses are about the act of writing...you, taking the time
to write and applying the lesson's content is what will help
you succeed. Don't write, and you're just throwing your
time and money away. If
you don't think you'll do well outside of a conventional
classroom, then perhaps you should consider finding a local
person to mentor you, or you should consider attending a
local college or university.
